Mak Kamenica

Mak Kamenica is the Deputy Chief of Party of the USAID Energy Investment Activity (USAID EIA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main objectives of USAID EIA are to help the country attract investment and create jobs in the energy sector. Prior to this Mr. Kamenica was the Deputy Chief of Party of the USAID Enterprise Energy Efficiency (USAID 3E) project, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The USAID 3E project assisted BiH to promote energy efficiency technologies by developing demonstration projects in public and private buildings in BiH. Through this project the capacities of the municipal public sector counterparts and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that implemented the works were increased, and public awareness about the benefits of energy efficiency was increased.

From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Kamenica was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the New York Institute of Technology, department of Energy Management, doing research on energy efficiency and renewable energy topics. In addition, during his time in New York, Mr. Kamenica was an Advisor/Intern at the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations in New York and monitored the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly on issues that concern energy efficiency, climate change, environment and sustainability. In addition, Mr. Kamenica helped with the everyday activities of the BiH Mission to the UN during the time BiH became the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Mr. Kamenica also followed the activities of UNDP in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency in eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States as well as other UN agencies.

From 2008 to 2009, he worked as a System Automation Engineer at Energoinvest, a Sarajevo-based engineering company where he worked on substation automation projects. Mr. Kamenica has joined the America-Bosnia Foundation in 2007 as a Board Member and has participated in the preparation of numerous events in Sarajevo, New York and Wasington. Since 2010 Mr. Kamenica is the Executive Director of the America-Bosnia Foundation.

Mr. Kamenica holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering - University of Sarajevo, a certificate in Business Project Management from the School of Continuing and Professional Studies - New York University.
