Bosnia and Herzegovina participated at the Annual UN Bazaar in March 2009
Mrs. Stela Vasic - Barbalic, spouse of the BiH Ambassador to the United Nations, was a member of the organizational committee where Bosnia and Herzegovina participated with its products to help raise money for UN projects.
Spouses of UN ambassadors host the annual UN Spouses' Bazaar to raise funds for the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).
CERF is a humanitarian fund that serves as a monetary aid to jumpstart critical projects not yet funded through other resources. To raise money for CERF, over 55 spouses of UN ambassadors came together to sell various items from their home countries and cultures.
Over the years, this Bazaar has raised funds for multiple organizations, including the Peace Corps, the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). Last year’s event brought over $43,000 to women of armed conflict, and this year’s Bazaar hopes to bypass that number for CERF.
